It was fun drawing random things on Silk, and they actually turned out pretty cool.

What challenges were there?

One challenge I had was making sure the Olympic rings are the same size.

Where might this tool be useful?

This tool might be useful if you were bored and you wanted to draw something!

How did the presenters help you learn?

The presenters helped me learn by making the instructions clear.

If you were running this toolkit what would you change?

If I was running this toolkit I wouldn’t change anything because the instructions are already perfect.

Here’s my Olympic rings and my name that I drew:

What challenges were there?

The challenges that I had was putting the pictures on Google Sheet so it can be revealed.

Where might this tool be useful?

This tool might be very helpful if you wanted to make a quiz.

How did the presenters help you learn?

The presenters helped me learn by putting some videos up on the slide so I can go back and watch them when I’m stuck.

If you were running this toolkit what would you change?

If I was running this toolkit I wouldn’t change a thing because it’s already amazing

I had some recording problems so here’s a screenshot:

I was fun playing with the tools on Canva.

What challenges were there?

There wasn’t any challenges for me.

Where might this tool be useful?

This tool might be useful if you wanted to make a poster, edit a video, ect… Also you can use it to make a poster that tells people what you have learnt lately.

How did the presenters help you learn?

The presenters helped me learn by showing me how to do it step by step.

If you were running this toolkit what would you change?

If I was running this toolkit I wouldn’t change a thing.

Here’s my amazing poster:

SketchUp

What did you learn?

I learnt how to make a 3D house using SketchUp.

What was fun?

It was fun watching them make the 3D house.

What challenges were there?

There was no challenges because I haven’t tried it yet. I couldn’t access the app, but I’m looking forward to using it.

Where might this tool be useful?

This tool might be helpful if you are bored and you wanted to make your dream house.

How did the presenters help you learn?

The presenters helped me learn by showing me how the tools work on the app.

If you were running this toolkit what would you change?

If I was running this toolkit I wouldn’t change anything.

Pixel Art

Today we made pixels art of our schools logo.

What did you learn?

I learn to make pixel art on Google Sheets. I also learnt that although a picture might look easy to turn into a pixel art but when you try to turn it into pixel art it’s quite hard.

What was fun?

It was fun to watch the picture coming together and looking like a dolphin.

What challenges were there?

Some challenges I had was making sure the dolphin didn’t look like a fish with bird wings.

Where might this tool be useful?

This tool might be helpful if we wanted to convert a picture into pixel art.

How did the presenters help you learn?

The presenters helped me learn that it way harder than it looks from their examples.

If you were running this toolkit what would you change?

If I was running this toolkit I would get them to add a few more rows so they don’t have to do it while they make the picture.

Here’s my attempt:

Matariki

This year for Matariki every class had a star to learn about. Then they have to make something to show what they’ve learnt about it. My class got 4 stars to do and we got split into 4 groups. My group got Matariki. First we had to research about it and make a activity for the people to do when their here. At the end we didn’t end up using most of the activities, we only used a word search and salt cookies.

Here’s my presentation that shows what I learnt:

Inferencing

This week for reading we have been learning to inference. Inference is a idea or conclusion that you get from taking the evidence and your own reasons. Inference is also a guess.

To practise our Inferencing skills we did some actives that needed us to agree or disagree on some statements. We also need to put our reasoning, and we can only use the picture that’s there to make a inference.

One thing that I think I did pretty well was the prediction that I made at the end, because at first I found it hard to think of one. At the end I tried my best and got one.

Do you agree with my statements?

Week 5 reading

This week for reading we have been forecasting on summarizing of what we read, summarize the key events, and making connection between the texts that we’ve read. We had a text to read called The Sea Devil, and we did some activities like: answering questions, and some fast facts. We did some activities to get good at it: summarize the key events, summaries details, and summarize the whole thing.

I think I did pretty good at answering the questions for the text because I remembered to use the types of questions. Next time I think I need to do better is to read the text more than once to make sure I understand everything. For our create activity we had to make a wanted poster for the German captain that escaped the internment camp. You can see it in the photo below.

How Land Was Formed On Earth

Recently in we have been learning about tectonic plates and how land was formed. So we wrote a explanation for it.

One thing I think I did really well in my writing was how I explained the tectonic plate boundary movements, because when I checked with my buddy they could easily understand. One thing I found hard was writing the conclusion because I had troubles making a decision on how I should summarise my explanation. In the end I finished with the help of the example, and the success criteria.

I used the example by checking with it to see if it’s similar to the example, and I used the success criteria by making sure it had the things it asked for. Something that I should do next time is checking if I have any pronouns in my explanation, because sometimes I just forget.

Here’s my writing:

How The Land On Earth Was Formed?

Introduction:

Earth is a special planet that has many different and unique terrain. But have you ever started to wonder how unique terrain like: mountains, rifts, and trenches are formed? Well in this explanation you get to know how.

The Earth’s Layers:

To understand how the unique terrains are formed you first have to know the layers of the earth. First there are the crust, the upper mantle, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core. The crust is the layer that people live on.

Tectonic Plates:

The tectonic plates are the reasons for unique land formation. The tectonic plates sit on top of the upper mantle, so every continent or country lay on the tectonic plates. If the tectonic plates move, it will strongly change the landforms. But different boundary movement creates different terrain, and there are 3 different types of boundary movements. All are: transform, convergent, and divergent.

Transform:

Transform is a type of boundary movement when two tectonic plates rub. When the tectonic plates do this it creates earthquakes.

Convergent:

Convergent type of boundary movement when two tectonic plates meet the other plate, coiled together. Neither of the tectonic plates is denser than the other so the tectonic plates both go up, and this normally makes a mountain range. It is famous for making the Southern Alps. In some cases when two tectonic plates meet the other plate the other goes underneath the other, because the other is denser. This is called: subduction, and this process makes trenches. It is famous for making the Mariana Trench.

Divergent:

Divergent is a type of tectonic plate boundary movement when two tectonic plates move away from the other. This type of boundary movement normally creates: rift valleys, and rifts. It is famous for forming the Rio Grande Rift.

Conclusion:

So the unique terrain on earth is created by the tectonic boundary movements. It can make and cause earthquakes, mountains, rifts and ect… All 3 different boundary movements make different things.

World War 1

Recently in reading we have been learning about the ww1. We learnt how to describe a veterans experience based on the information that we read. We also learnt what happened in war. Some activities that we had to do was: create question and answer to interview a ww1 veteran, then to get a buddy to interview (record it), and answer some questions.

A interesting fact that I learnt was that goldfish helped in the war. The Germans would let out poisonous gas, so the soldiers had to wear gas masks. When they wash it, they’d put a goldfish in to test out if the mask is still poisonous or not.

My favourite part was doing the interview recording because my buddy did a full on impression of what a 135 year old veterans would sound like.

Here’s my interview:
